At Nest Driving School, we are committed to providing comprehensive driver education that ensures the safety and responsibility of young drivers. In accordance with Virginia state law, students under 18 in Planning District 8 must complete the 90-Minute Parent/Teen Component as part of their driver education program.

This essential session educates both parents and teens on critical aspects of driving, including:

  • Requirements for a Provisional License & Graduated Driver License – Understanding the steps to full driving privileges.
  • The Developing Teenage Brain & Teen Driving Risks – How cognitive development affects decision-making behind the wheel.
  • Key Risk Factors for Young Drivers:
    • Fatigued Driving
    • Distracted Driving
    • Drinking & Drugged Driving
    • Speeding
    • Choosing the Safest Vehicle
  • Interaction with Law Enforcement:
    • What to do if pulled over
    • The importance of the Move Over Law
  • Parental Guidance in Teen Driving: Reiterating the role of parents in reinforcing safe driving habits.

Additionally, participants receive state-specific materials covering driving laws, restrictions for new drivers, and practical tips for parents to support their teen drivers effectively.
