Knowledge of driving can boost teens’ confidence behind the wheel, but sometimes they overlook the responsibility that they needs to build a safe and responsible community by following Virginia traffic law while driving. This responsibility can only be developed under the guidance of an experienced, DMV-certified instructor.

According to the Virginia Traffic Crash Facts 2025 report, on average, a traffic crash occurs somewhere in Virginia every 4.5 minutes. 4,957 crashes involved people who were not properly restrained by seat belts, according to the same report. Additionally, 33 teen drivers between the ages of 15 and 19 lost their lives, while thousands of teen drivers aged 16–19 were injured in traffic crashes. These statistics highlight why proper driver education, defensive driving skills, and supervised behind-the-wheel training by a DMV-certified instructor are essential before teens begin driving independently.

Our teen license program that offers both 30 hours of classroom education and behind-the-wheel training to help teens gain knowledge of defensive driving techniques , road skills, and confidence needed to become safe and responsible drivers. During the 7-day program, students receive 50 minutes of behind-the-wheel instruction and 50 minutes of observation each day, in which students learn the importance of performing a pre-drive safety inspections, maintaining a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead, and mastering essential driving maneuvers. They also gain practical experience driving on neighborhood roads, busy roads, and highways while learning how to identify unsafe driving behaviors on the roads, obey Virginia traffic laws as a first-time driver and respond appropriately to real-world traffic situations. On the 7th day, which is the final test day, students complete their road test with a DMV-certified instructor. Upon successfully meeting the course requirements, eligible students can receive their Virginia driver’s license without visiting the DMV.
